Anvil Media shot two nights of footage in Chatswood during Sydney’s Vivid Light, Music & Ideas Festival (22 May – 8 June 2015).
Our client, Willoughby City Council, wanted to use the video to promote the June long weekend finale in Chatswood and record the event for its major contributors (Chatswood Chase, Chatswood Interchange, Westfield Chatswood).
Our brief was to capture the family-friendly event’s underwater theme without revealing too much of the magic to potential visitors.
To present an extraordinary view of the illuminated installations—beyond what visitors were sharing on social media—we adopted a nighttime time-lapse technique using the reflective light and silhouettes of each installation.
The flowing movement of people in the crowd emphasised the dream-like undersea imagery projected onto the buildings.
It was a magic weekend.
