As specialists in corporate video production, Anvil Media has access to every possible kind of camera system in producing corporate videos for our clients. In fact we have several in-house video camera units.

Among these is a DSLR camera, with DSLR standing for Digital Single Lens Reflex.

DSLR cameras have really changed what’s possible in video production on a budget. In short, it allows us to creat a ‘filmic’ effect in a cost effective way.

“The main advantage that video DSLRs offer over a lot of standard video cameras is their large sensors, compared with those of video cameras,” said Nigel Taylor, Anvil Media’s in-house camera operator. “These large sensors create a narrower depth of field which means we can isolate a subject. In doing so, we produce a sharp foreground and soft background which makes the scene more like we’re used to seeing in film.”

Using this type of filming allows us to literally focus on the main subject, and viewers are less drawn to what may be happening in the background.

“With DSLR, you get the look of a still photo but with a moving pictures effect, so the result is much more refined and expensive looking at a lesser cost,” said Nigel. “Many organisations want their video to look like it was shot on film and the least expensive way to do that is to shoot with a DSLR.”

A number of factors are considered when we choose the best choice of filming style for your particular corporate video project. This includes taking into account your message and communication objectives, budget, timing, audience, site logistics and more.

In making our recommendation, we draw on many years of experience in developing highly effective corporate videos for our clients, using a range of film styles.
