Ashleigh McBean works as a third year apprentice in her family’s retail butchery, Gary’s Meats, in Melbourne’s Prahran Market.

Animal welfare is one of her highest priorities. This means working with red meat producers who are committed to the highest possible welfare standards.

Butchers play a vital role in the Australian red meat supply chain. Ashleigh loves engaging with customers and helping them to understand where their meat comes from, the different cuts available and how best to cook with them.
