A search of ‘drone video’ or ‘drone footage’ will tell you it’s gone viral! The internet is flooded with amateur videos of oceans, war battles and farm machinery.

But commercial drone filming in Australia is not just a matter of buying a DJI Phantom, having a quick practice and heading out to shoot.

Farm machinery has often been in the picture when Anvil Media has arranged licensed aerial drone footage for our clients’ projects.

But it can be costly! Want a drone for the day? Prepare to double the cost of your shoot! Or more.

Anvil Media’s camera crews include highly experienced drone video operators with all the right certifications. So we’ve been able to include drone capability economically (and legally) in many of our projects.

But we got thinking … what if one of our video producers were a licensed drone pilot and Anvil Media itself were a licensed operator? Michael Neil-Smith’s hand shot up and before we could object, he’d ordered our new DJI Phantom 4 and enrolled in a week-long course to get qualified and kick off our accreditation process.

So in a few weeks, once we’ve done the paperwork and it’s passed through CASA, Anvil Media will be offering drone filming (in locations where it’s permitted) on shoots Michael directs. And it won’t cost an arm and a leg.
