When a family-owned business in Queensland, Crest Electronics, wanted to make a corporate video, it selected Anvil Media based on the strength of its existing work. Dirk Olbertz, one of the company’s directors, recalled the decision process.

‘When I was looking to put the video together, I googled “corporate video production” and spent about half a day looking at all different websites,’ Dirk said.

‘I liked the Primo (Smallgoods) corporate video that you did. It really appealed to me. And when I spoke to the lads (at Anvil Media) about putting our video together, I said, “I just want to emulate what you did with Primo”, and they did.’

Crest Electronics regularly makes presentations to potential clients and partners, and Dirk explained that they wanted an audio-visual presentation that would quickly convey the depth of the business.

‘Everyone’s doing PowerPoint presentations these days and we needed to have something one step above that to sell our company and our capabilities,’ Dirk said.

‘We were looking for a third party distribution opportunity, and we wanted to achieve maximum credibility in the shortest amount of time.

‘You can sit there and do a PowerPoint presentation—and spend an hour doing it—or you can have these people sit there for three minutes and once they have seen it, they instantly know who you are and what you are doing. And that worked really well.’

After initial telephone discussions, Anvil Media’s Darryl Anderson met with Crest Electronics. At the meeting, they narrowed the brief and planned a script to explain the complexities of Crest’s history and current operations.

‘My initial discussions were with Darryl over the phone. He really got what I was trying to achieve. He just got it,’ Dirk said.

‘I really liked the way they operated. Very professional, and they listened. They flew up to Brisbane, took the brief, came back, and the script they sent totally answered the brief, so it was a nice experience.’

Darryl and Pieter wrote the script, and Pieter produced the video.

Pieter recalled that the production ran smoothly because Dirk, his brother and partner, Ralph, and their team made themselves available throughout the process, and Dirk was involved at every step along the way.

‘Corporate video projects like this always come together better when I can work with the client as a production partner. Dirk was fantastic. He really got involved and enjoyed the video-making process.’

Dirk said he was very impressed with the final result. And Crest Electronics continues to use its corporate video to introduce the company to potential clients and partners, as well as new employees.

‘It just adds instant credibility once you see the video. This business is reasonably complicated, and having a corporate video that explained all the different facets and assets of our business was very successful,’ Dirk said.

‘We had a lot of positive feedback, and we’ve already signed a few new contracts as a result of it.

‘It was really well received by our staff, and I think it added to the culture of the business as well.’
