Anvil Media has begun production of an information DVD to help a vital regional movement support rural young people in pursuing tertiary education and vocational skills.
Almost 50 local education foundations provide grants and other support to young people who must leave their communities to study. There's often no alternative to uprooting to a larger centre or capital city. That can be costly, and many are prevented from reaching their potential through a lack of resources - especially when seasons are tough.
The Country Education Foundation of Australia is the umbrella organisation which helps source corporate sponsorship and provides a proven organisation model for local education foundations to follow.
With the growth of the movement – it started in 1994 with a single local foundation in Boorowa, NSW – comes increasing demands on the resources of CEFA. There’s a greater need for corporate sponsorship raising, and increasing interest in the concept means more local groups actively seeking information and support in getting their own foundations off the ground.
CEFA’s Executive Officer, Jocellin Jansson contacted Anvil Media because of the company’s experience in creating audio-visual productions for rural audiences.
The DVD is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009.
